Was Caesar a Baller?

How can a 2,000 year-old Roman coin change the way you play basketball? The image on it.

Insincere teachers asked Jesus whether paying taxes to Caesar (the Roman emperor) was moral or not, hoping to bait him into endorsing the Romans or promoting rebellion. Jesus replied with a question: "Whose image is on the coin?", and the teachers replied "Caesar's." Jesus responded:

"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's"

Caesar's image was on the coin, so Caesar had authority over the coin. All people were made in God's image, and although we are all imperfect, there is still that glimmer of God's image in all of us: compassion, sacrifice, creativity, excellence - all these things and more reflect our Creator. He wants to see that image fully restored.

How does this change the way you play basketball? Realize that God's concern isn't for your performance, your stats, or even the championship: He wants your heart. He sees His image in you and wants it restored.

Will you give to God what He made in His image?
